Pierce won't play in Philly
By Mike Mazzeo
PHILADELPHIA -- Brooklyn Nets small forward Paul Pierce will get the night off Monday, head coach Jason Kidd told reporters.
Pierce, 36, is not injured. He’s a veteran and Kidd clearly doesn’t want to overuse him in the preseason before the games actually count.
Pierce did not travel with the team.
Kidd said Alan Anderson will likely start in his place.
The Nets are already without Deron Williams, Andrei Kirilenko, Jason Terry and Tyshawn Taylor.
Kirilenko (back spasms) did not travel with the team.
Kidd said his starters will likely get a slight uptick in minutes.
