Lopez (ankle) questionable vs. 76ers
By Mike Mazzeo
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez is questionable for Monday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers due to a sprained left ankle.
Lopez, who did not practice Sunday, has missed eight games due to the injury, which caused him to miss Friday night’s loss to the Detroit Pistons.
“You always go with safety first. So, if he can’t go, we’ll go with the next guys up,” Nets coach Jason Kidd said. “I think we’ve become accustomed to that, so it’s not anything new.”
Lopez had been averaging 24 points on 69 percent shooting in his previous three games before getting hurt again.
Shooting guard Joe Johnson and forward Mirza Teletovic also sat out of Sunday’s practice due to illness. Johnson is the only Nets’ starter to play in every game this season.
“We’ll see how they feel tomorrow,” Kidd said.
Forward Andrei Kirilenko (back) and guard Jason Terry (knee) remain out.
