Garnett starts on Sunday vs. Pelicans

By Mike Mazzeo

NEW YORK -- Kevin Garnett will return to the Brooklyn Nets’ starting lineup Sunday night against the New Orleans Pelicans after resting Friday night in Detroit.

Deron Williams, Shaun Livingston, Joe Johnson and Paul Pierce will also start, moving Andray Blatche back to a reserve role.

• Nets coach Jason Kidd was asked why his team has gone 2-4 in its last six games.

“Our health is something that’s kinda been up and down, and when we were going our health was good,” Kidd said. “So if we can get healthy here before the break, we got three games before the break, so we’d like to try to finish the first half of the month on an up note.”

Asked a follow-up, Kidd said, “Everybody’s healthy. Ready to go.”

• The Nets have had trouble with younger teams this season.

“I think pretty much all the teams are pretty much younger than us,” Kidd quipped.

Brooklyn is the second-oldest team in the NBA behind the Miami Heat.
