Humphries on being benched
By Mike Mazzeo
For the first time this season, Kris Humphries didn't start at power forward for the Brooklyn Nets.
Humphries was relegated to the bench in favor of Reggie Evans and scored four points and grabbed seven rebounds in 25 minutes during the Nets' 97-88 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday night at Barclays Center.
Nets coach Avery Johnson explained his decision after the game.
"We've been struggling defensively to start games," Johnson said. "We wanted to mix it up a little bit. I felt Humphries had a great second half and gave us some energy."
Humphries had averaged 8.1 points and 8.1 rebounds in 18 starts for the Nets.
"It's a different mindset, but you just have to find a rhythm, rebound the ball, play defense, do my thing," Humphries said. "I'll be alright."
Humphries said Johnson made the change during Saturday's practice.
"Coaches make decisions. You just go out there and do your job. That's what I'm doing," Humphries said.
It is unknown if Johnson will stick with the same lineup on Tuesday night against the New York Knicks.
Evans had five points and nine rebounds in 27 minutes.
