Nets interested in Millsap?
By Mike Mazzeo
The Brooklyn Nets are interested in trading for Utah Jazz power forward Paul Millsap, according to a report in the New York Daily News.
The Nets have also been recently exploring trade opportunities for Josh Smith and Ben Gordon, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.
Sources told the Daily News that the Nets offered Kris Humphries and MarShon Brooks for Smith, but the Atlanta Hawks want a better package for their 27-year-old power forward.
While Nets GM Billy King told reporters Monday that he "isn't going to make a trade just to make a trade," it is expected he'll certainly make plenty of calls given that he's in the final year of his contract and the team he assembled has lofty expectations.
Millsap, 28, is averaging 14.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game for the Jazz this season.
Deron Williams was a former teammate of Millsap's in Utah. Millsap would certainly give the Nets an upgrade at the four spot, while providing Williams with a solid pick-and-roll option on offense.
