His consolation prize (or reward, depending on how you look at it)? Four days of rest in Miami.
Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams were teammates for five seasons with the Utah Jazz.
Williams and his family spent the All-Star break with former Jazz teammate Carlos Boozer and his family. Williams' wife, Amy, tweeted pictures of the kids playing in the pool together.
D-Will and Boozer were an unstoppable pick-and-roll tandem when they played together in Utah. From 2006-10, Boozer, now a Chicago Bull, averaged 19.5 points and 10.7 rebounds per game on 54.8 percent shooting.
D-Will's and Jason Kidd's families frequently hung out in the offseason, leading to speculation that the two friends would end up together on the same team, but it didn't work out that way.
Other news from All-Star Weekend:
• While D-Will was enjoying his vacation, he remained in the headlines up north, with Jerry Colangelo saying (or not saying) that Williams was “not in the best shape" and “a little overweight" last summer at the Olympics.
GM Billy King has defended his point guard's weight. But Williams doesn't have the same explosiveness that he once did; he's yet to dunk this season.
D-Will missed the past two games due to inflammation in both ankles, but is expected to practice Monday night.
• Brook Lopez played in his first All-Star Game on Sunday night and finished with three points, five rebounds and three assists in 11 minutes.
