EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez, who knows what it's like to go up against his brother, has a rooting interest in the "Harbowl."

While Lopez and his twin brother, Robin, were starring at Stanford (2006-08), Jim Harbaugh was just beginning to mold the Cardinal football program into a perennial BCS power.

On Sunday in Super Bowl XLVII, Harbaugh will coach the San Francisco 49ers and his older brother, John, will coach the Baltimore Ravens.

"It's really cool," Lopez said. "I'm a little biased because Jim was at Stanford while I was there."

"I know how competitive it can get between brothers," he added.

Lopez said he and Jim Harbaugh weren't "super close," but "I'm definitely a big fan of his. I went to the games, and what he did for the program is amazing."

Lopez can't relate to what the Harbaughs are going through because he and Robin, who now plays for the New Orleans Hornets, never faced each other in a game of this magnitude.

"Not like that. Not that stage or anything like that at all," he said.

Though Lopez isn't a big NFL fan, he said he is going to watch the Super Bowl and thinks the 49ers will take home the title.

For the record, Robin (67.7 percent shooting, 9.8 ppg) is 4-1 against Brook (16.8 ppg, 8.8 rpg) in their career regular-season matchups against each other. Robin spent the first four seasons of his career with the Phoenix Suns before joining the Hornets.

The Nets visit New Orleans on Feb. 26 and play host to the Hornets on March 12.
