The Thursday morning hoops roundup

1/13/2011

St. John's was beaten handily by No. 4 Syracuse at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night -- here are links to the recap, and to my story from the game.

In brighter local news, Seton Hall's Jeremy Hazell returned after missing 13 games with a broken bone in his left wrist -- and he didn't miss a beat, scoring 23 points on 10-for-17 shooting from the floor in a 78-67 Pirates win over DePaul.

In other local action on Wednesday:

  • Hofstra improved to 5-0 in the CAA, winning 74-60 at Towson. Mike Moore had 21 points, and Charles Jenkins 19, for the Pride.

  • Fordham fell to 0-2 in the Atlantic 10, losing 72-52 at George Washington. Chris Gaston had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Rams.

  • NJIT defeated Texas-Pan American 79-60. Freshman Lamar Kearse had a career-high 22 points for the Highlanders.
