The Big East released its 2010 preseason media poll on Tuesday, and Rutgers was projected to finish fifth in the conference this coming season.

Pittsburgh was selected as the overwhelming favorite to win the conference championship, receiving 22 of 24 first-place votes.

Cincinnati and West Virginia finished tied for second in the poll, and UConn finished fourth.

Rutgers will be going for its sixth consecutive winning season in 2010, and fifth consecutive bowl game win. The Scarlet Knights finished with a 9-4 record (3-4 in Big East play) in 2009.

The Scarlet Knights will be led by sophomore quarterback Tom Savage, who had an excellent freshman season, throwing 14 touchdown passes and only seven interceptions. Click here to read more about how Savage has matured during the offseason.

The team also features exciting sophomore wide receiver Mohamed Sanu, who had 51 catches for 639 yards as a freshman last season.

Rutgers won't have it easy this year, schedule-wise. They'll play the top three preseason teams all on the road -- Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and West Virginia.

Rutgers opens up its season at home, on Thurs. Sept. 2, vs. Norfolk State.
