The biggest story of this weekend in college hoops was, without question, St. John's stunning win over No. 3 on Sunday at Madison Square Garden.

In other local action this weekend:
Seton Hall won its second straight on Sunday, 81-71 over Providence at The Rock. Herb Pope had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Pirates.
From beyond half-court, Manhattan freshman Mike Alvarado flung a prayer in the air as the buzzer sounded that amazingly went in, giving the Jaspers a 60-59 win over Marist in Riverdale. George Beamon had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Manhattan.
Iona has now lost three straight -- by a combined total of seven points -- after losing 88-85 at Loyola (MD) in overtime. Mike Glover had 22 points and eight rebounds in a losing cause.
On Saturday, Rutgers battled No. 2 Pitt extremely tough in the RAC, but the Panthers ultimately prevailed 65-62. Jonathan Mitchell, Mike Coburn and Robert Lumpkins all had 12 points for the Scarlet Knights.
Fordham lost at home to St. Bonaventure, 69-60. Brenton Butler had 15 points for the Rams.
LIU-Brooklyn is now 16-5 overall, and 8-2 in the NEC, after a 74-69 win at Monmouth. Kyle Johnson had 14 points for LIU; Marcus Ware had 20 for Monmouth.
Surging St. Peter's has now won four straight and is 8-3 in the MAAC, after pounding Rider 80-60 in Jersey City. Ryan Bacon had 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Peacocks.
Stony Brook destroyed Hartford at home, 69-35. Bryan Dougher had 15 points for the Seawolves.
Wagner has now lost four of its past six, after falling at Central Connecticut State, 75-71. Tyler Murray had 20 points for the Seahawks.
Hofstra suffered its second straight defeat, 65-60 at home to Drexel. On a brighter note, Charles Jenkins scored 19 points and became the school's all-time leading scorer (2,280 points), breaking the record previous held by Antoine Agudio.
Columbia is 3-1 in the Ivy League after winning at Darmouth, 66-45. Noruwa Agho had 16 points for the Lions.
St. Francis (NY) won at Fairleigh Dickinson, 86-77. Akeem Bennett had 28 points for St. Francis; Mike Scott had 24 for FDU.
NJIT lost at Utah Valley State, 71-58. Chris Flores had 24 points for the Highlanders.
