Rutgers guard Graham to have knee surgery

Rutgers men's basketball coach Mike Rice announced Tuesday that junior shooting guard Tyree Graham will undergo surgery on his left knee.

In a statement, Rutgers said the injury was discovered during Graham's physical examination after arriving on campus this past week. The length of time Graham is expected to miss was not released, but it could be the entire season.

Graham -- 6 feet, 190 pounds -- signed with Rutgers in May, after stints at Texas Tech and Supply Brunswick Community College (N.C.). He was expected to receive significant playing time this season for the Scarlet Knights.

"The health of our players is always our primary concern," said Rice in the statement. "Tyree will remain very much involved in team activities and we look forward to his complete recovery."
