Big East hoops preseason poll released

10/19/2011

The Big East men's basketball preseason coaches' poll was released on Wednesday, and the three local Big East schools couldn't be bunched any closer.

Rutgers was picked to finish 11th in the 16-team conference this season, followed by St. John's (12th) and Seton Hall (13th).

UConn, the defending national champion, and Syracuse finished tied for first in the poll. Louisville and Pittsburgh also received first-place votes.

No players from the three local schools made any of the preseason All-Big East teams. Pittsburgh guard Ashton Gibbs was named the conference's preseason player of the year, and Connecticut center Andre Drummond was named the preseason rookie of the year.
