Manhattan accepts invite to CIT

March, 9, 2012
Manhattan College has accepted an invitation to play in the Postseason Tournament (CIT), the Jaspers' first postseason appearance since 2006.

Manhattan will begin tourney play at Albany next Wednesday at 7 p.m.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to be playing in March,” said Manhattan first-year head coach Steve Masiello. “Obviously all games this time of year are tough, otherwise teams wouldn’t be here. It gives us a chance to get our young roster postseason experience. We look forward to getting off to a good start next week.”

Masiello engineered the biggest turnaround in Division I this season in his first year at the helm. Manhattan went from 6-25 a year ago to 20-12 this season, a 14-win improvement. The Jaspers finished tied for third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, but were upset by No. 6 seed Siena in the quartefinals of the MAAC tournament.
