Manhattan faces familiar foe in CIT

March, 16, 2012
After defeating Albany in the opening round of the Postseason Tournament, Manhattan will next play a team it knows very well.

The Jaspers (21-12) will face fellow MAAC conference team Fairfield (20-14) on Sunday at 4 p.m., at Alumni Hall in Fairfield, Conn.

The two teams finished tied for third in the conference this season at 12-6. And they split their two regular season meetings, with Manhattan winning 53-51 at home on Jan. 8, and Fairfield winning 60-54 at home on Feb. 9.

The Jaspers were upset in the MAAC tournament quarterfinals by Siena, while the Stags upset Iona and advanced to the championship game before falling to Loyola (MD).

Fairfield defeated Yale 68-56 in its first-round CIT game.
