Hofstra officially announced on Friday that former Hawaii guard Shaquille Stokes is joining the program.

The 5-foot-11 Harlem, N.Y. native averaged 8.4 points and and 2.2 assists in 20.1 minutes per game for the Warriors last season as a freshman. He will have three years of eligibility remaining, and Hofstra is hoping Stokes will receive a hardship waiver from the NCAA so that he can play next season.

"We're excited to add Shaquille and all the positive attributes he will bring to our team," Hofstra coach Mo Cassara said in a statement. "He improved as the season progressed at Hawaii and we think he'll be a strong addition to our backcourt."
