Hofstra announced on Friday that new men's basketball coach Mo Cassara, who was hired back in May, has been given a four-year contract by the university.

"We are excited about the program that Mo is developing," said Hofstra athletic director Jack Hayes in a statement. "Hofstra University looks forward to a successful 2010-11 campaign and many more in the future with Mo Cassara as our head coach."

Hofstra opens up its season on Saturday at 4 p.m., hosting Farmingdale State.
