In a battle of two local teams on Saturday, LIU-Brooklyn won at Manhattan, 91-80. Kenny Onyechi had 18 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for LIU; freshman Mike Alvarado had 18 points to lead Manhattan.

St. Peter's -- expected to contend for the MAAC title this season -- dropped to 0-3 on the season, although it has been without leading scorer Wesley Jenkins, who they hope to get back in the near future. The Peacocks lost a consolation game at the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands to Long Beach State, 68-56. Darius Conley had 13 points to lead St. Peter's.
Columbia suffered a disappointing loss at Longwood, 95-76. The Lions only trailed by one at halftime, but were blown out in the second half. Noruwa Agho had 19 points for Columbia.
Albany pounded Fairleigh Dickinson, 72-46 at FDU. The Knights shot just 16-fo-55 from the field -- Mike Scott was their only player in double-figures, with 23 points.
On Sunday, two local Big East teams are in action. Seton Hall -- playing its first game without leading scorer Jeremy Hazell, who broke his left wrist on Friday and is out 4-to-6 weeks -- plays Xavier at the Paradise Jam at 8:30 p.m. Rutgers hosts ACC-team Miami at the RAC at 2 p.m.
