Masiello is new Manhattan hoops coach

By Kieran Darcy

Manhattan has hired Louisville assistant Steve Masiello to be its new men's basketball coach.

Masiello, a White Plains, N.Y., native, served as an assistant coach at Manhattan from 2001-2005. He replaces Barry Rohrssen, who was fired after the Jaspers went 6-25 this season and were 59-85 overall in his five seasons with the school.

"I am honored and humbled to be the next coach of Manhattan College, said Masiello in a statement. "I am eager to lead the Jaspers back to prominence as being a premier program in the [MAAC] conference, and re-establishing our rich tradition and winning history."
