W2W4: Wagner vs. Robert Morris

By Kieran Darcy

Here are three things to watch for when Wagner (25-5, 15-3 NEC) takes on Robert Morris (23-9, 13-5 NEC) on Sunday afternoon at the Spiro Sports Center in Staten Island, N.Y.

Tip-off is at noon, and you can watch the game on MSG.

WHAT'S AT STAKE: A spot in the Northeast Conference championship game. Wagner, the No. 2 seed in the NEC tournament, has only made the NCAA tournament once in school history, in 2003. Robert Morris, the No. 3 seed, went to the Big Dance as recently as 2010, when it nearly upset Villanova.

The two teams met once during the regular season, on Feb. 2, with Wagner winning at home, 80-69.

THE SEAHAWKS: Wagner, under second-year coach Danny Hurley, has three players averaging in double figures, led by 6-foot-1 sophomore guard Latif Rivers (14.5 ppg).

The Seahawks are 52nd in the country in scoring (73.7 ppg), 29th in free throw shooting (74.8 percent), and 11th in turnover margin (plus-4.0 per game). And they've won 10 of their past 11 games.

THE COLONIALS: Robert Morris, under second-year coach Andrew Toole, has two players averaging in double figures, led by 6-foot junior guard Velton Jones (16.4 ppg).

The Colonials are 41st in the country in rebound margin (plus-4.8 per game), 20th in steals (8.5 per game), and 59th in turnover margin (plus-2.0 per game), but just 238th in field goal percentage (42.2). And they've won seven of their past eight games.
