Wagner men's hoops coach Dan Hurley has signed 6-foot-8 forward Hugo Naurais, a native of Nimes, France, to join the Seahawks next season.
Naurais played for the French national team in the Under-18 European Championship last summer, averaging 3.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game and shooting 53.6 percent from the floor.
"Hugo is your typical offensively skilled European player with great size and length," said Hurley. "Offensively, he can play effectively out to the 3-point line and is a very competitive hard-nosed individual."
Naurais will be one of five new Wagner players next season. The others are fellow freshmen Marcus Burton (a 6-foot-1 guard from North Carolina) and Marcus Moody (a 6-foot-7 wing from New Jersey); 6-foot-6 junior Jonathan Williams, a transfer from San Francisco Community College; and 6-foot sophomore Kenny Ortiz, who sat out last season after transferring from Southern Miss.
Wagner also returns all five starters from last year's squad, which went 13-17 overall, and 9-9 in the Northeast Conference, in Hurley's first season at the helm.
