Herzlich returns to practice

1/18/2012

New York Giants rookie linebacker Mark Herzlich practiced for the first time since November, but is still unsure about his chances of playing in Sunday's NFC title game against San Francisco. The linebacker broke his foot against the Saints on Nov. 28 and his missed the last seven games with the injury.

"It felt good," Herzlich said of returning to practice on Wednesday. "It was awesome to be out there. Didn't have much pain. Felt like I could do pretty much everything. It felt good."

Herzlich had started two straight games at middle linebacker for the Giants in November before he suffered his injury against the Saints. He said Wednesday that it hasn't surprised him that he has missed this much time, as breaks take six to eight weeks to heal.

On Wednesday, he was listed as limited but said that he did everything in practice. The rookie linebacker had to go to the doctor on Wednesday afternoon, which will be the biggest factor in determining if he can play Sunday. Herzlich said he was not sore.

He added that he watched Sunday's win over Green Bay from his couch, by himself, as he gets too intense during games to watch with others.
