If it's possible, Deon Grant will be playing with a little extra motivation in Indy.
The veteran Giants safety was on the losing side in Super Bowl XXXVIII, a member of the Panthers team that fell short to Tom Brady and the Patriots.
For Grant, the memory still stings as if the game was last Sunday.
"Nobody remembers the people that [lost] in the Super Bowl, they only remember the winners," Grant said earlier this week.
Clearly, Grant wants to be remembered this time around.
A key cog in a Giants secondary that has picked up its play exponentially late in the season, Grant's play could be pivotal for New York's success next Sunday.
He and the rest of the secondary will have its hands full against New England, which boasts weapons like Wes Welker, Deion Branch, Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski.
And Grant's just fine with that.
"I wouldn't want to go against any one else in the Super Bowl," he said.
Grant and other Giants veterans have been imparting their wisdom on younger players, telling them how rare the opportunity before them is.
"I was young when I experienced it the first time but now I know how serious it really is," the 32-year-old, 12 year veteran said.
Perhaps more than most Giants on the roster, Grant appreciates what's ahead of him -- a chance to win an elusive NFL title.
"I know how hard it is to get here," he said. "I've been with so many defensive coordinators and so many teams, so it's huge to me."
