Tuck: 'You can be sure of whose house it is'

Ed Mulholland/US PresswireAs the confetti fell at MetLife, Justin Tuck (with his son Jayce) called the building the Giants' house.
Giants defensive end Justin Tuck took a bow -- after taking a shot at the Jets.

“The last time we did this, it was in Giants Stadium," Tuck told a crowd of approximately 40-to-45,000 fans at the team’s Super Bowl XLVI championship rally at its home stadium. "And I am sure you know where I am going to go with this. Now we are in MetLife Stadium. It's MetLife Stadium.

"But for one thing you can be sure of -- of whose house it is.”

Co-owner Steve Tisch added, "Nobody asked me if the Jets were going to take over this town. I would have had my own answer. Actually, we answered it two night ago."

“Some people like to say the Giants are the big brother team and the Jets are the little brother team. I have news for you: We are the better team. We are the big brother,” Ryan, who guaranteed his team would win the Super Bowl title before the 2011 season started, wrote.

“When people ask me what it’s like to share New York with the Giants, my response is always I am not sharing it with them -- they are sharing it with me. … It seems clear that right now we are the better team and we are going to remain the better team for the next 10 years. Whether you like it or not, those are the facts and that’s what is going to happen.”

Ryan reiterated that the Jets were the best team in the area prior to the teams playing on Christmas Eve. It hasn’t happened so far.

The Giants humbled Ryan’s Jets, 29-14, in a do-or-die Week 16 matchup, sparking their six-game winning streak, which ended with their fourth Super Bowl championship in franchise history.

Before the game, the Giants felt disrespected by the Jets, who covered up Big Blue’s Super Bowl trophies on the wall outside their locker room with curtains. The Giants pushed the curtains away, but the Jets pushed them back into place and put a security guard in front of them so they could not be tampered with.

After the game, left tackle David Diehl, kicker Lawrence Tynes and long-snapper Zak DeOssie came out and pushed the curtains aside.

“This is Giants Stadium!” Diehl yelled as he went back in the locker room. “This is Giants Stadium!”

While Ryan’s team talked the talk, Giants coach Tom Coughlin's team walked the walk, taking on his “talk is cheap” mantra. And they ended up playing the first playoff home game in MetLife Stadium history, as well as winning the first championship in the venue’s history.

Following the Giants’ 21-17 victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, Jets owner Woody Johnson released a statement, congratulating Big Blue.

“On behalf of the New York Jets, I would like to congratulate the Mara and Tisch families, Coach Coughlin and the entire New York Giants organization,” Johnson said. “It was a closely contested game that showcased all of the best elements that our sport has to offer. The Giants demonstrated poise and resolve in earning a hard-fought victory in Super Bowl XLVI. Also, I want to congratulate the Kraft family, Coach Belichick and the New England Patriots on a tremendous effort and an excellent season.”

The Jets played in “Giants Stadium” from 1984-2009, before both teams moved into MetLife Stadium in 2010.
