RB Andre Brown did not play in the preseason finale with a turf toe injury that will keep him out for two weeks.

Brown suffered the injury in practice when he was tackled and a teammate fell on his foot.

“To get back all the way to this point, I know it is a preseason game but I love playing the game and I love playing football,” Brown said. “Take it for what it is and let it heal up and go from there.”

Brown, who was wearing a boot on his foot, was visibly frustrated because he has battled all the way back from a season-ending Achilles injury last season. He has looked good in training camp and looked to be ahead of D.J. Ware for the third running back spot.

Ware gained 60 yards on 13 carries last night in Brown’s absence after missing time with a concussion. RB Gartrell Johnson made a case for sticking on the roster with 50 yards on 12 carries.

“I am hoping I will be back by the start of the regular season,” Brown said.
