Victor Cruz has switched agents and has hired Malik Shareef but he says it has nothing to do with his contract.
Cruz is entering the final season of his contract worth $540,000.
"I changed just because I felt like I kind of outgrew my last agent," Cruz said about his former agent Jack Huntington in an appearance on SportsCenter. "I just wanted to kind of have someone that is more into my career and into what I am doing right now currently."
"It was something that I wanted to do and something that I was thinking about for a long time," the receiver added. "It is nothing about contract or nothing crazy. I just wanted to have someone I was a little more comfortable with."
During his stop at ESPN to promote the Madden '13 Cover vote which he is representing the Giants as a No. 2 seed in the Round of 32, Cruz talked about a few issues, including Mario Manningham's departure to San Francisco.
"I was happy for him," Cruz said. "Obviously, he is going to be a guy who is going to be tough to replace. He was a guy who did some tremendous things for us in the playoffs but I am happy for him. I understand how this business works and he had to take the best opportunity for him and I wish him the best of luck in San Fran."
Finally, Cruz gave us a hint of what the Giants' Super Bowl rings will look like as well.
"I think we get them next month at a ceremony at Tiffany next month," Cruz said. "I'm excited for that. They put a little blue in the ring. I am definitely looking forward to rocking it."
