EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Left tackle Will Beatty is still taking things slow with his troublesome back.
He has missed all of the OTA sessions with a back issue. Beatty said he might do some individual work on the side on Tuesday during minicamp but he likely will take it easy on his back and sit out minicamp practices this week to be ready for training camp.
"It is a little setback not to be able to do OTA's but I am still here during meetings and I am always mentally learning so I haven’t stopped just because you all haven’t seen me out there on the field," Beatty said. "I am still here each day. I am looking forward to training camp because it has been a while since I have suited up."
Second-year tackle James Brewer got some valuable reps with the starting line in Beatty's place during OTA's. Beatty, though, says he will be ready to go for the start of training camp at the end of July.
"Very confident," he said about being ready for training camp. "By that time, my back will be completely healed no question. You don’t want to have your back flare up [now] and then ... We are playing it safe but I am going to do a little bit more [this week]."
