ALBANY, N.Y. -- Terrell Thomas did not finish the first practice of the year due to a back injury.

The cornerback, coming back from a torn ACL, started practice but had to leave before coming back and watching the rest of practice after his back tightened.

“I'm ok, back locked up on me,” Thomas tweeted after practice.

Tom Coughlin didn’t sound too concerned, pointing out that Thomas did not suffer any injuries to his legs. Thomas is attempting to come back from the second torn ACL injury of his career. He is projected to start opposite Corey Webster if all goes well.

“I have no limitations,” Thomas said prior to practice in the morning. “I don’t think I’ll second-guess any time I fall or jump or anything. The biggest thing is getting back into football shape, you know, covering, tackling, press technique, all of the little things that I wasn’t able to do in rehab.”

Thomas said his confidence is “high right now” and that he’s ready to prove people who doubt him wrong.

“To come back with everybody doubting you, it being my second ACL, that’s always been my motive,” said Thomas, who tore his ACL in his right knee twice, the first coming while at USC. “I’ve been through injuries, overcame all of them and came back better than people expected so I’m excited for the challenge.”

The Giants will certainly err on the side of caution when it comes to Thomas to make sure their cornerback will be good to go for the season opener.
