ALBANY, N.Y. -- Cornerback Prince Amukamara struggled in his start against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday night, but drew cheers from teammates and fans after picking off Eli Manning’s fade pass to Domenik Hixon in the end zone Monday during practice.

“That’s all he needs. Make a couple of those. That was a nice play,” head coach Tom Coughlin said. “That interception was a nice play. Well done. His teammates will look at that and not as much heat will be sent his way. They still kid about it.”

Amukamara wasn’t the only defensive back to make a play -- the secondary had a few of them during practice. CB Corey Webster knocked the ball out of Hixon’s hands on a deep pass from Manning down the right sideline. CB Antwaun Molden showed good concentration when he came up with an interception after helping break up a short pass.

Other observations from practice:

• WR Ramses Barden made the catch of the day, out-jumping Amukamara to snag a long Manning pass down the left sideline. Amukamara had tight coverage on the play. Barden also made a nice grab on a pass thrown behind him on a slant. And he came close to making a difficult catch along the sideline with tight coverage from Amukamara.

• Rookie TE Adrien Robinson looked a lot better the past two days catching the ball. He had some drops last week, but showed steady hands on Sunday and Monday. He hauled in a deep pass down the seam over LB Greg Jones that could have gone for a touchdown.

“Thank goodness. He’s starting to come along,” Coughlin said. “He’s starting to get it a little bit. It’s been a long haul. He’s the guy that missed the whole spring with the academic thing. Graduation was late and he couldn’t come. He’s really just scratching the surface.

• Starting left tackle Will Beatty participated in his second consecutive practice after missing time last week with a back injury. He shared reps with Sean Locklear, who filled in for Beatty last week.

• RB Andre Brown completed an option pass to WR Dan DePalma for a touchdown.

• The Giants unveiled a new slogan -- “Build the Bridge” -- and handed out gray T-shirts featuring the slogan to the players on Sunday. Some of them wore the shirts to breakfast on Monday. The slogan was Coughlin’s idea -- it refers to carrying the success the team had late last season into this year. He said it took him about an hour to explain it to the players.
