EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Giants are off on Sunday, and that's a good thing, since they came out of the Jets game a little banged up.
Ahmad Bradshaw suffered a hand injury which he says was a popped cyst on his right hand. X-rays were negative.
Cornerback Jayron Hosley was in a protective walking boot after the game, and this has to be a concern for the Giants considering how impressive the rookie has been thus far. Hosley will undergo more tests on Sunday.
Linebacker Mark Herzlich suffered a hip pointer, and defensive end Adrian Tracy injured his hamstring.
"I know it was on the bubble screen play," Herzlich said of when he got injured in the third quarter. "I was running outside and I think someone was coming from the outside in. So, I think it might have been friendly fire, I don’t know."
"Right now it’s not too bad," he added. "I think getting ice on it right away was helpful. The swelling stayed low. Tossing and turning in the night, you know, could happen, but I’m not really sure."
Tracy said his hamstring injury was not serious and that he sat out after injuring it as a precaution.
BACK TO WORK: Tom Coughlin was happy with some things from the Giants' 26-3 win over the Jets.
He liked Lawrence Tynes' performance, as the kicker buried four field goals of 35, 30, 40 and 45 yards. But he would have liked to have seen the offense punch the ball into the end zone more than once. He did not like Eli Manning's interception in the second quarter, when he tried to throw the ball away but threw it to LaRon Landry. And he was not happy with the Jets blocking a piece of a Steve Weatherford punt.
Coughlin did like what he saw from his defense, which collected seven sacks on the night. Jason Pierre-Paul had two sacks, and Adewale Ojomo also had two sacks.
"I thought that Lawrence Tynes performed very, very well tonight," Coughlin said. "I thought that the Jets defense and the Giants defense played very well. Certainly I was pleased to win the game, that’s the idea. I was not pleased with the interception. I was not pleased with the blocked punt."
"We certainly have a lot of work to do and a long way to go," Coughlin added. "For the second preseason game I was glad to see the improvement -- particularly we saw improvement on the defensive side of the ball. But we’ve got a lot of work to do."
