LB Boley returns to practice Saturday

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Linebacker Michael Boley will return to practice Saturday after missing much of the preseason with a hamstring injury.

Coach Tom Coughlin also said left tackle Will Beatty (back) will work this weekend in an effort to play against the Cowboys on Wednesday. Several other Giants with injuries are going to practice as well, including defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (back).

Cornerback Jayron Hosley (toe) is expected to at least do individual work Saturday, and the team will see how he feels afterward.

"We are going to see what he is like," Coughlin said. "It is more of a test than anything else. Is there a level of pain tolerance?"

Coughlin said Prince Amukamara (high ankle sprain) likely will be out against the Cowboys, as expected. As for defensive tackle Marvin Austin, Coughlin said the second-year player's back has gotten stronger since last being evaluated. But it sounds as if Austin also will miss the regular season opener.

"He was stronger this morning upon his examination than he was, for example, last week," Coughlin said. "We are just trying to see on a day-by-day basis where he is at and if not this week can we hold for next week?"
