EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Hakeem Nicks missed his second straight practice on Monday but reiterated that he will suit up on Wednesday in the Giants' season opener against Dallas.

"I have no doubt about that," said Nicks.

Nicks underwent surgery to repair a broken toe in late May and the Giants have been cautious with the receiver's recovery process. Nicks sat out until the final preseason game, in which he had one catch and played about 10 snaps.

But he has progressed as scheduled with no setbacks throughout training camp and the preseason.

On Monday, the Giants' No. 1 receiver worked on the side during the early portion of practice, catching corner end zone practices from Giants quarterbacks Eli Manning and David Carr.

He said afterward that he'd taken some reps off of practice the past two days to get ready for Wednesday.

"I know it's for the better; we don't want any setbacks," Nicks said.

Nicks still feels soreness in his toe but was encouraged by how it felt during the Giants' final preseason game against the Pats.

He said he'll probably have to deal with that soreness for the first two weeks of the season.

"It's not like it's perfect but it's nothing that's going to hinder me and stop me from playing," he said.

Also, corner Jayron Hosley (toe) went through a full practice and expects to see time at nickel corner. Michael Boley (hamstring) practiced in full and reiterated that he'll be on the field Wednesday, as did Mathias Kiwanuka, who practiced on a limited basis Monday due to a groin injury.

Tackle Will Beatty was limited with a back ailment. Sean Locklear will start at left tackle.

Coughlin said the players who have not been practicing, such as Prince Amukamara (high ankle sprain) and James Brewer (back), will not play Wednesday.

Defensive lineman Marvin Austin (back) did not practice and has said that he's targeting a return in Week 2.
