EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A league sources tells ESPN.com's Adam Schefter that the Giants are roughly $700,000 over the salary cap.
They will have to either make a roster move or restructure a contract to o get under the $120.6 million cap.
And the Giants' front office has until Wednesday to figure it out.
One of those other options is to restructure one of their current players' deals.
Houston and Detroit are also roughly $700,000 over the cap, a league source tells Schefter.
Houston can use its cap exception from the Redskins and Cowboys (each team received $1.6 million in cap space from cap penalties incurred by Dallas and Washington) to get under. The Giants and Lions, however, don't have that option.
