Yes, he's starting for the first time in his five-year NFL career. And, yes, he's doing so on national television against Tony Romo in the first game of the season.
But Michael Coe says he won't feel any added pressure or butterflies before Wednesday night's season opener.
The corner's ready for his closeup.
"When it's time to line up and play, you get lost in the moment, I don't really think about it (getting nervous)," Coe said on Monday.
Coe is starting in place of injured second-year corner Prince Amukamara (ankle). And Tom Coughlin is confident that Coe will compete.
"I think he'll play a good game," Coughlin said. "I think he'll play well. He's practiced well. He's played well in the preseason. He understands what we're trying to do. He certainly has matched up against outstanding receivers on the other side of the ball. He's a very competitive guy, he's looking forward to this opportunity and I think he'll do well."
Coe is equally as confident.
He says he takes comfort knowing that he's done all he can to prepare for the Cowboys during the week. So he'll be relaxed when he sets foot in MetLife Stadium on Wednesday.
"You smell the popcorn, the grass, hot dogs, it kind of puts me at ease mentally," Coe said. (Yes, MetLife has a FieldTurf surface, but give him a pass.)
Coe could be lined up against either Dez Bryant or Miles Austin -- two of the tougher assignments for an NFL corner. And, with Corey Webster on the other side, Romo will likely target Coe early and often on Wednesday.
"I'm sure he'll come my way more often than not, I'll be prepared for that," Coe said.

Jacquian Williams did some individual work today. He's rehabbing and resting his PCL injury that slowed him down last year.

So to recap, Giants didn't have their top two WRs at voluntary OTA. Nicks would've been limited but Coughlin wasn't thrilled.

Coughlin sounded disappointed that Nicks is not here at voluntary OTA. Nicks would've been limited though as he makes way back.

Don't see Hakeem Nicks on field at OTAs. Chris Snee and David Baas might be inside rehabbing. No Victor Cruz at voluntary OTA.
