EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Giants still have not determined who will start at cornerback opposite Corey Webster on Sunday against the Buccaneers.
But the two most likely candidates, Prince Amukamara and Michael Coe, both sounded ready to go after practice on Friday.
"I just practiced this whole week, and just did the best I can out there," Amukamara said. "I feel a lot better. I feel like I'm improving and getting healthier each day."
"If I can compete in practice, I can play," he added.
"I feel really good," Coe said. "It's up to the coaches. I've been practicing all week, I've been feeling good. I've been doing special teams work and everything else."
Amukamara missed the Week 1 loss to the Cowboys with a high ankle sprain, suffered in the team's third preseason game against the Bears.
Coe, making his first NFL start in place of Amukamara, tweaked a hamstring against the Cowboys and had to leave the game near the end of the third quarter.
Tampa Bay rushed the ball 36 times, and passed it just 24 times, in its 16-10 win over Carolina in Week 1. But the Bucs do have weapons in the passing game -- including Vincent Jackson (a three-time 1,000-yard receiver) and Dallas Clark (a former Pro Bowl tight end).
Former Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams caught a touchdown pass against the Panthers as well.
Officially, Coe is listed as probable for the game, while Amukamara is labeled as questionable.
"I think they get a little better every day," coach Tom Coughlin said, when asked about the two cornerbacks.
When asked if Amukamara could start, Coughlin said, "We'll see. We'll see about that. ... He certainly would be in contention, yeah."
