Steppin' to the AM: Diehl fired up

David Diehl is well aware of what his critics have been saying about him.

And the proud vet is ready to show the "haters" that he has plenty left in his tank. Diehl came into camp at a lean 304 pounds and he's incredibly motivated to start at right tackle this season. His main competition -- rookie Justin Pugh -- has been out the last few days recovering from a concussion. James Brewer, who has been getting first-team reps at right guard in place of the injured Chris Snee, took second-team right tackle snaps on Saturday.

We'll see today how Pugh is feeling as well as how Corey Webster (groin) and Hakeem Nicks (groin) are doing. The two vets sat out practice on Saturday.

In case you missed it: Mike Pope gave us his state of the tight ends address.

And Jim Herrmann updated us on how the linebackers competition is going.

Tom Coughlin and the Mara family flew to Canton to attend Bill Parcells' induction into the Hall of Fame. They were expected to return last night. Coughlin was excited to be there.

The 411: The Giants will practice between 1:30-to-3:45 but practice is closed to the public today. So check back here later today and look for my tweets (@NotoriousOHM) for practice updates.
