Injury report: Tuck to practice; Pugh ready

August, 11, 2013
Justin Tuck (back) is expected to return to practice on Monday, according to head coach Tom Coughlin.

Tuck did not play in the preseason opener after missing two practices last week with tightness in his back. The defensive captain, though, expected to be fully recovered for this week's practices.

Also, first-round pick Justin Pugh (concussion) will be ready to practice this week.

"Pugh has been cleared to return to practice," Coughlin said in a conference call with reporters.

Coughlin said the team will find out more on Monday about running back Ryan Torain's status. Torain has been out with a concussion since last week. Also, tackle James Brewer (concussion) is improving and nearing a return as well.

Coughlin said wide receiver Kris Adams was undergoing surgery on a fractured left ankle and offensive lineman Chris DeGeare was being evaluated for an MCL injury. Both players suffered the injuries during the Giants' 18-13 win over Pittsburgh on Saturday.
