Antrel Rolle typically has the pulse of the team.

That's why the Giants safety and team captain often says something before it's too late. Rolle says the Giants have lacked a level of excitement on the field and have been unable to transfer high energy in practice to games on Sunday.

"In this league, teams only get better," Rolle said on his weekly radio spot on WFAN radio. "Teams don't get worse. We can't sit around and keep letting this league pass us by. We know we are a great football team.

"If you see us in practice, we are flying around, we are making plays and everything is on point. But when it comes on Sundays, it is almost as if it is a transfer of energy and almost as if we lose ourselves a little bit. It is a team effort."

Former safety Deon Grant visited with the team on Monday and had a long talk with Rolle and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. Grant told Rolle that he didn't see the enthusiasm and excitement he's used to seeing even after good plays made by the defense.

"I feel like as NFL players, this is something we should love to do and automatically get amped for, automatically be excited to do come Sunday," Rolle said. "Right now on the sidelines I'm just not seeing it, honestly. As a team we have to figure it out."

Rhodes, Goff visit: The Giants bring in players pretty much every Tuesday to see who is worth signing and keeping an eye on for later in the season.

Former Jets safety Kerry Rhodes was in for a workout. ProFootballTalk.com reported on Sunday that Rhodes would be brought in. A source said the team was just taking a look at Rhodes for now.

ESPN's Josina Anderson also reported that former Giants linebacker Jonathan Goff and linebacker Leroy Hill were also in for workouts. Goff has not played since 2010 when he was with the Giants. He tore his ACL before the start of the 2011 season. Goff was signed by the Redskins but tore the same ACL last summer in Redskins training camp.
