Steve Smith confirmed after the Giants’ 31-7 win over the Redskins that he was still on schedule to return to practice on Wednesday and hoped to return to the field this Sunday at Minnesota.
Smith has missed four games with a pectoral muscle tear. He returned to practice on a limited basis last Wednesday.
He and Hakeem Nicks (lower leg) have been out for the last two weeks. Derek Hagan and Mario Manningham have played in place of the two wideouts.
Smith said last week that he knows he will have to deal with the pain associated with the injury when he returns to the field.
"I'm going to feel it for the rest of the season," Smith said last Wednesday. "It is kind of weak, especially weak when I move my arm across the body."
