Fewell expected to return as Broncos and Browns hire head coaches

January, 13, 2011

The Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos both hired head coaches on Thursday, meaning Perry Fewell is expected to return as Giants defensive coordinator unless the Raiders come calling or barring something unexpected happening.

The Browns hired Pat Shurmur and the Broncos announced that John Fox will be their new head coach.

Fewell interviewed with the Denver Broncos on Sunday. He also interviewed with the Browns earlier this week and the Panthers last week. The Panthers hired Ron Rivera as their new guy.

So after drawing interest from four teams -- the 49ers asked for permission to talk to him before hiring Jim Harbaugh -- Fewell got valuable experience interviewing for a head spot which will help him in the future with his aspiration to become a head coach. The Raiders are the only team with a head coaching vacancy at the moment.
