The Giants released Madison Hedgecock on Thursday.
But they've already begun pursuing his potential replacement.
According to a report from FOX26 in Houston, the Giants are one of five teams in the mix for Vonta Leach. The Cowboys, Ravens, Texans and Broncos are the others.
With Houston last season, Leach, a seven-year veteran, was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time.
Leach had told SirusXM radio earlier this month that the Giants were on his list if he didn't re-sign with the Texans.
The Giants tried to add Leach in 2007 when he was a restricted free agent.
