Michael Clayton was a regular at the Camp Eli workouts during the summer and he said he felt he would be returning to the Giants this season.

According to NFL Network, the Giants agreed to terms with the veteran receiver on Tuesday. Clayton was signed last season when the Giants were hit hard with injuries to their receivers.

Clayton joins a crowded unit that includes Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham, Jerrel Jernigan, Domenik Hixon, Victor Cruz, Devin Thomas and Ramses Barden (PUP list) among others. The Giants continue to try to re-sign Steve Smith. Even if Smith re-signs, he may not be ready to practice at full strength for some time after undergoing microfracture surgery last December. So the Clayton move helps for depth purposes in camp.

Also, according to the Arizona Republic, the Giants are working out DT Gabe Watson on Tuesday.
