Hixon placed on IR

July, 17, 2010
Domenik Hixon cleared waivers on Friday and was placed on injured reserve by the Giants as planned.

Hixon was waived on Thursday and the Giants picked up Adam Jennings in a move that was made so that the team could place the injured wide receiver on IR. Hixon, the team's best returner, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during the team's first practice in the New Meadowlands Stadium last month.

Hixon recently underwent surgery to repair the knee but is out for the season. The team values Hixon, who is well-respected in the locker room by his teammates. Jennings, a 2006 Falcons draft pick, is a candidate to replace Hixon. Sinorice Moss, Mario Manningham and Aaron Ross also could potentially take Hixon's spot as punt returner.
