"They wanted him a lot. I remember talking to [Giants owner] Mr. [Robert] Tisch. He told me like 'we're giong to go after Plax. I know they wanted him. Maybe he just wanted a fresh start," Smith said.
Smith, of course, also went with a fresh start. He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles after the Giants offered a deal his team deemed unsatisfactory.

Smith, who signed with the Eagles over the Giants, says he hopes Big Blue realizes what they have in Thomas, unlike what happened with himself.
"I'm sure he's thinking a lot of things," Smith said. "I talked to him and he's just trying to stay positive and hopefully the Giants, they realize they've got a good player in him."
