Five down. Twenty-seven to go.

The Giants reduced their roster to 80 on Friday by placing linebacker Clint Sintim on the injured reserve list and cutting cornerback Darnell Burks, wide receiver Todd Watkins, offensive lineman Brant Clouser and defensive tackle Ibrahim Abdulai.

Tuesday was the deadline for most NFL teams to downsize their rosters to 80 players. The Giants and Jets were given three-day extensions by the NFL because they played Monday night, 48 hours later than scheduled because of Hurricane Irene.

All teams are required to be at the regular season roster limit of 53 by 6 p.m. Friday.
