Jacobs still steamed with reduced role

Brandon Jacobs was steaming in the Giants locker room after a 20-17 win over the visiting Dolphins. He hadn’t gotten many carries, and many of those he did get were while fellow running back Ahmad Bradshaw was being tended to on the sideline for foot pain.
“I’ve got nothing positive to say,” Jacobs said. “The most positive thing: I got family at home and I got a fast-ass car being delivered on Tuesday. That’s it.”
It’s been a rough week. First came the quote from a fitness magazine interview that Jacobs expected he’d need to be on a different team to play to his potential. Some analysts have come out and said Jacobs has a point. But when the running back got his opportunity against Miami, his first series included a fumble and a drop. Later, when he came in for an injured Bradshaw, some Giants fans booed his lack of production.
After four carries for 10 yards and a single catch for 0 yards, Jacobs wasn’t in a talkative mood after the game.
“Cause I can’t say nothing,” Jacobs said. “I always say something for everyone else’s dislike.”
Although he initially said he wasn’t going to talk, Jacobs changed his mind and agreed to discuss the win. The Giants were expected to beat the winless Dolphins handily but struggled instead a week after a bye. It’s an all too familiar situation.
“I don’t know what it is -- a lot of people hadn’t gotten their fun and games out,” Jacobs said. “I’m with them, me too. I don’t know what it is. Been in the league for seven years and seven times I think we’ve struggled.”
Clearly this has been a season filled with struggles for Jacobs, and his off the field issues with his own team aren’t simple enough to be solved by a win over Miami.
