The Giants need tonight’s game against the Eagles in the worst way. Unfortunately, through one half of football, they’ve done everything they can to give it away. Philadelphia leads New York, 10-3, heading into the locker room.

Let’s look back at what was a brutal opening 30 minutes of football.

THE GOOD: Prince Amukamara's NFL debut couldn’t have started any better. Amukamara recovered to get in front of DeSean Jackson and make his first career interception in the first quarter. ... Mark Herzlich, getting his first-ever start at linebacker, has been all over the field. ... Steve Weatherford has hit punts of 61, 59, 56, 46, 54 (to the Eagles’ 2). ... Kenny Phillips also has a pick. ... Lawrence Tynes' 48-yard field goal at the end of the second, which put the Giants on the board.

THE BAD: Jake Ballard dropping a pass on the Giants’ opening drive that led to a three-and-out. He also couldn't handle one late in the second quarter. ... The Eagles' play-callers for not giving the ball to LeSean McCoy on every down. The kid is a stud. Give him the rock. ... Whoever lost former Giant Steve Smith in coverage, which led to a 14-yard touchdown catch. ... Allowing Jackson to rip off a 51-yard punt return. ... All the skirmishes.

THE UGLY: Brandon Jacobs -- six carries, 14 yards -- continues to stink. ... Eli Manning is 7-for-18 with an interception. His QB rating is 29.2. ... Vince Young prior to his TD throw ... Jackson flipping the ball to Perry Fewell and being flagged for taunting, negating a 50-yard catch. That play will not help his bargaining power in contract negotiations. ... Chris Snee has committed two dumb penalties. ... The Giants are 2-for-8 on third down.
