Nicks recovering from foot surgery and ready to shine this season

April, 22, 2010
Quick blog item before the draft begins in a little bit and we start blogging non-stop about the draft. Got to talk to WR Hakeem Nicks on Wednesday night at the ESPN Magazine Pre-Draft party which I wrote all about and it will be on the website tonight so please check it out.
Nicks was one of a few Giants at the party and he filled us in on his offseason so far. Nicks underwent surgery on his left foot and had a screw placed in a toe.
“The foot is doing better now,” Nicks said. “I will go back and get it re-evaluated next week. It feels a lot better. I’m walking around a lot better. It’s a screw put into my toe, just a bad case of turf toe. I will definitely be ready (for camp).”
Nicks said he expects to be even better this season after playing hurt during his rookie season.
“I did (play hurt),” Nicks said. “I think I’ll be a whole lot better. I’m a lot more comfortable and I think I will be able to do a lot more things to help this team.”
“I definitely feel I can be a starter,” he added. “That is my goal.”
