GREEN BAY, Wis. --The New York Giants ended the first half stunning and silencing Lambeau Field with a 37-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Hakeem Nicks to take a 20-10 lead into intermission.
With six seconds left and the ball at the Packers' 37, Manning lofted up a ball to the left side of the end zone and Nicks jumped and caught the ball with Charles Woodson and Charlie Peprah behind him.
The Giants were right. They said they could hit Green Bay's defense for big plays, and Nicks has touchdown catches of 66 and 37 yards. At the half, Nicks has five catches for 152 yards as the Packers have not been able to cover him.
So far, the Packers' offense has yet to explode for any monster plays. Aaron Rodgers missed a wide-open Greg Jennings at the Giants' 10 for a potential early touchdown and there have been a few dropped passes.
The Packers got a huge break in the first half when Jennings appeared to be stripped for a fumble by Deon Grant and Kenny Phillips recovered the ball around the Giants' 30 for a big stop. But even after instant replay, officials ruled Jennings was down on the play. The Giants were up 10-3 at the time. Green Bay would score a touchdown on that drive to start the second quarter and tie the game at 10-10.
The Packers attempted an onside kick on the ensuing kickoff but the Giants recovered. But the Giants could not take advantage as they had to settle for a field goal only to see a 40-yard attempt by Lawrence Tynes blocked.
Manning has 274 yards passing and two touchdowns along with one interception. The Giants haven't really been able to run the ball much but the offensive line has shown that it gets better as the game progresses based off the last two games.
Packers Fullback John Kuhn fumbled and that allowed the Giants to add three more points to their lead with a Tynes' field goal that gave them a 13-10 lead.
After the Giants defense was able to hold Rodgers in check, they scored at the end on the Hail Mary.
