Coughlin: Ann Mara's attitude reflects NYG
By Matt Ehalt
The Giants feel they haven't been getting any respect.
And the wife of the late Wellington Mara, the former Giants owner, let Terry Bradshaw know about it on Sunday.
As the FOX analyst interviewed players and management in the locker room following the Giants' 20-17 win in overtime, Ann Mara let the Hall of Fame quarterback hear it for picking against the Giants in the NFC Championship Game.
As Bradshaw waited to interview Victor Cruz, Mara approached Bradshaw, tapping him on the arm as she told him that he never picks the Giants. Bradshaw apologized to Mara before turning to the camera and saying: "I'm getting hammered for not picking the Giants, Curt (Menefee)."
As Mara talks to Bradshaw, her son, owner John Mara, looks over and says "Mom" twice before she moves away and allows Bradshaw to have his interview with the wide receiver, who had 10 catches in the game. Just minutes before, John Mara mentioned Bradshaw in an interview with him as one of the people who doubted the Giants during the year.
Giants coach Tom Coughlin said during a conference call on Monday that Ann Mara's attitude reflects the way the Giants hope to play.
"I missed most of that, to be honest with you, because I was ushered over to the press conference side, but I did hear a little bit about that this afternoon," Coughlin said. "I know that in many ways, many times Mrs. Mara’s attitude is reflective of the way that we would hope our team plays. She has great energy and tremendous interest and she is so interested in the team playing well and doing well."
Perhaps next time Bradshaw will choose the Giants. Or he might hear about it once again.
