Postcards from the Parade

By Mike Mazzeo

According to SNY, here’s the ticker-tape parade count:

Yankees: 9
Mets: 3
Giants: 2
Rangers: 1
Baseball Giants: 1

The Giants have won four Super Bowl championships, but have had only two parades. In 1987, New York City mayor Ed Koch wouldn’t let the Giants have a parade because they moved to New Jersey. In 1991, the Giants didn’t have a parade due to the Gulf War.

• Fans are throwing footballs to the players and having them signed.

• Injured tight ends Travis Beckum and Jake Ballard are both sitting on the same float.

• SNY estimates that 50 tons of shredded paper will fall from the skyscrapers in lower Manhattan.

Eli Manning, Justin Tuck, Tom Coughlin and Mayor Bloomberg, Jerry Reese, Governor Cuomo and John Mara are on what is probably the most beloved float.
